Preparations for the Storms

We are in very difficult times. Storms are gathering at every point on the horizon. The seas are rough, even around the base of our Lighthouse. We hear the distress calls resultant of natural disasters both here in the United States (floods, tornados, etc) and around the world (earthquakes, drought). We also hear a different type of distress call that comes from people affected by despots, dictators and demons. These people are threatened by the agenda of darkness that has been launched against them with tools of discouragement, fear and mental torment, loss of health, materialism, selfish desires, hopelessness and more.

Quick, man the Light!

The view from the Lantern Room provides perspective. While others are storm tossed outside, we are safe in Jesus Christ. We may be frightened at first as the sea hurls itself against the glass of the Lighthouse, but we know that the structure we are in (His church) has weathered 2,000 years of hostility, standing continuously to show the way of safety to every generation of passersby. It is dry and warm inside and the strength of the tower is certain, but not altogether unaffected by the tempest of a world cursed by sin. In his first letter the Apostle Peter writes to his “storm tossed” generation with a message of hope, purpose and direction. Words such as “pilgrim” “blessed” “kept” “faith” “special people” and “chosen” are combined with “grieved” “trials” “suffer” and “the end of all things is at hand”.

What must we do? What will we do? Two different questions:

Must? Peter directs us to “be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear” and “be serious and watchful in your prayers. Above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins.” From now to the end of the year we at Big Bear Christian Center must prepare ourselves to these ends. “The Truth Project” will be a large contributor to our preparations, beginning with the Simulcast training event on September 27 th. We must learn how to give a good answer to those who are buffeted by the storms we all face in this season of distress. We must love one another, having compassion for those around us caught in the storm. And we must pray!

Will? That’s the question you have to answer! Many will do nothing and thousands of lives will be lost to the storms. You have a God-given choice in the matter: to provide light to others in distress and to comfort those pulled from the seas of destruction. We encourage you to become equipped to save souls and be a source of help. Will you?

Thank you for stopping by the
Lighthouse on the Mountain

We are a cell-based church that has been shinning the light of Jesus Christ since 1964 here in the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California.

Please explore the site a bit to find helpful information about knowing Jesus, local information, what a Lighthouse is (for us) and where to find one.

Big Bear City, California, a beautiful southern California resort, is home to an expanding church family that meets in homes, businesses, parks and coffee shops. We have the express purpose of "providing a witness for Jesus in every home and every business everyday".

Lighthouses

While our country's Costal Guardians and Aids to navigation are mostly retired from service, we maintain a different type of Lighthouse that shines the love of God to our mountain communities and world-wide missions as well.
